Job Summary:

The Construction Cost Estimator/Pre-Construction Services will be responsible for preparing complete detailed accurate cost estimates for multiple types of construction projects.  This a full time salaried exempt position with full benefits available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Candidates Must Have Extensive Experience in Multi – Family Construction Management and Land Development
  • Present and explain cost estimates to owners, designers and development teams. Works with those teams throughout the process to help determine the general requirements on each project
  • Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.
  • Estimates quantities and unit costs needed to determine project costs, providing consideration for general and special conditions
  • Develop and prepare conceptual estimates with minimal assistance using preliminary or conceptual design documents/information
  • Attend pre-design meetings
  • Monitor budget and design progress and identify any potential risks
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select scopes
  • Prepare detailed critical path job schedules
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
  • Will report directly to the Director of Construction

 

Required Skills /Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations
  • Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, roads, and other related structures
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be both creative and analytical
  • Extremely detail-oriented and accurate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Xcel, Microsoft Project and Bluebeam
  • Maintain strong work and personal ethics
  • Self-starter that takes sincere pride in your work
  • A team player that can work well with others and can effectively receive direction and direct others
  • Well organized, able to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact, develop and maintain positive professional relationships at all levels of personnel

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering preferred
  • At least 10 years of construction/estimating experience required
  • Previous experience estimating projects between $5-$100 million. Previous experience estimating commercial retail, multifamily, hospitality and warehouse
  • Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures and market trends

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to travel to various project sites
  • Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas
